What Is The What By Dave Eggers

So far in What is the what I don't think that this book is not that difficult to read and I am understanding most of the book, sometimes I might have re-read some passages to fully understand something, but overall am finding that I understand most of the book. When I frist started the book I found it very boring I found it was very slow until it got interesting. The further into the book I found the more interesting it got.

I am enjoying when Dave eggers scenes in Sudan I find it more interesting. It is very emotional and it sucks me into the story. Sometimes I think this where there should be more detail in the Sudans scenes rather than back in America. I find it would make the book a bit easier to read and less dull and more interesting. I enjoy the Sudan scenes better than the American scenes it is more dramatic and more ting happen in Sudan rather than back in America

I find that when we transition back to Atlanta I am less excited because I find when I am reading these part I find them a little dull. I find it a little boring because not a lot of things happen in these scenes not like the sudan scenes. There is too much detail which could be used else where. I find that when we are in America it is very slow and when I reading these scenes I find I just want to get back to Sudan and see what is going on here.

Lemon Drizzle Cake

In Master Chef Club we made Lemon Drizzle cake. I thought it tasted very good and is fun to make so why not share it with you all!

Ingredients
225g unsalted butter , softened
225g caster sugar
4 eggs
finely grated zest 1 lemon
225g self-raising flour

For the Drizzle Topping
juice 11⁄2 lemon
85g caster sugar

STEPS:
1. Heat oven to 180C/fan 160C/gas 4.
2. Line a loaf tin (8 x 21cm) with greaseproof paper, then spoon in the mixture and level the top with a spoon.
3. Beat together 225g softened unsalted butter and 225g caster sugar until pale and creamy

4. Then add 4 eggs, one at a time, slowly mixing through.

5.Sift in 225g flour and mix until well combined

  6. Add the finely grated zest of 1 lemon and mix until well combined.

7. Bake for 45-50 mins until a thin skewer inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean.

8.While the cake is cooling in its tin, mix together the juice of 1 1/2 lemons and 85g caster sugar to make the drizzle.

9. Prick the warm cake all over with a skewer or fork

10. Pour over the drizzle - the juice will sink in and the sugar will form a lovely, crisp topping.

11. Leave in the tin until completely cool, then remove and serve. Will keep in an airtight container for 3-4 days, or freeze for up to 1 month.

I hope you enjoy this sweet cake like I did!

Pause?

Has there ever been a time when you have just wanted to block out the world and put it on hold? What if we could have a pause button? I think that having a pause button would have so many advantages. Like when you are very mad at the world, sad, frustrated or even happy it would be nice to just press pause and not have to worry about anything at all. I know that I would use it a lot. I think it would be used for good. I would use it to cool down, when I get very stressed I get crazy and I just want to scream this would be good time for me to use a pause button and check out of the world and not have to worry about al my problems just to calm down. What are your thought on having a pause button? What would you use it for?

Rewind?

Has there ever been a time in your life where you just wanted to rewind? I know there have been many times where I have wanted this so bad. What if there was simply a rewind button in our lives where we could press it when we do something wrong and everything would turn out fine.Whether it is just because you have said something mean or hurt someone, I am sure that everyone in a time of frustration would want to rewind and change one thing. One thing that I find bugs me is that once you think about that you have done the one thing that rings in my head is that if I had changed one little thing there would have been a completely different outcome. Sometimes we think that having a rewind button in our life can make everything right. I think that yes it would be good to have a rewind button but if we do we will never have learnt to handle a situation because we have rewinded it. I think that a rewind button can be good in ways as well is could make life easier and less stress free but sometimes we have to make mistakes and learn from them. What are you thoughts on having a rewind button?

How To Write About Australia...

G’Day Mate when writing about Australia always use the words: sun, beach, surf, kangaroos, koalas, crocodiles, aboriginals, didgeridoos, the bush, Down Under, meat pies, Aussie rules, and sausage rolls. On the front cover of your book there should be bronzed Aussie surfers with blond hair catching a big wave with sun kissed bikini girls watching form the beach.

Explain how Australians are outgoing and friendly, ready anytime for a laugh. Show how every Aussie overuses the word ‘“Mate” in one sentence. The people are big hearted and good natured. Illustrate that Australians almost have their own language (slang). Use some of the Aussie slang words. Barbie (barbecue), chewie (chewing gum), chook (chicken) Dag (a funny person) The Fuzz (police). Australians have our own meaning of he word THONG it means flip flops not string  underwear.

We australians tend to use the word “Bloody” a lot to emphasize the following word (bloody good, bloody awful, etc.). Australians even use this word in their tourism campaigns “Where the bloody hell are you?” to try to encourage visitors to their fine shores. Also in their anti drink driving campaign “If you drink and drive you are a bloody idiot.” Throw in some Aussie phrases“Throw another shrimp on the barbie.” Make sure you emphasize that Australia is the land of creepy crawlies. With snakes slithering past your door, and with spiders the size of your fist crawling up the ceiling and hungry sharks waiting to feed on naive tourists. Australia is a nation that is sports mad. Football, cricket, rugby, tennis, swimming, surfing even lawn bowls. Anything that can be watched with a cold stubbie (beer) in your hand.
